Welcome. I'm Glad You're Here.

My name is Diosdado Dizon, and I am a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner providing psychiatric evaluations, medication management, and ongoing follow-up care.

I believe that seeking psychiatric care should feel like taking a positive step toward improving your well-being, not like being judged or reduced to a list of symptoms. My approach is straightforward: I listen, I take your concerns seriously, and I work with you to develop a treatment plan that makes sense for your life.

Every person comes into treatment with different experiences, responsibilities, challenges, and expectations. What works for one person may not be appropriate for another. Psychiatric care should never be a one-size-fits-all process.

My Philosophy: You Are More Than Your Diagnosis

A psychiatric diagnosis can help us understand symptoms and guide treatment, but it does not define who you are. Behind every diagnosis is a person with a unique story, personal goals, family responsibilities, relationships, and experiences that influence their mental health.

When we meet, I want to understand more than your symptoms. I want to know how they affect your daily life, work, relationships, sleep, and ability to enjoy what matters to you. I also want to understand what you hope to achieve through treatment.

Some patients want to feel less anxious, improve concentration, stabilize mood, sleep better, or regain motivation. Others simply want to feel more like themselves again. My goal is to help you move toward meaningful improvement while respecting your circumstances and preferences.

Your story matters. Your concerns deserve attention. Your treatment should reflect your goals.

How I Approach Medication Management

Medication can be an important part of psychiatric treatment, but prescribing is only one part of good care. Before recommending treatment, I review your symptoms, relevant history, previous medication experiences, current concerns, and treatment goals.

I believe you deserve to understand what a medication is for, why it may be recommended, its expected benefits, and potential side effects. Medication decisions should involve the person taking the medication.

  • Thoughtful prescribing: Considering your history, symptoms, prior responses, and individual needs.
  • Shared decision-making: Discussing options and involving you in treatment decisions.
  • Medication education: Explaining the purpose, expected benefits, and potential risks.
  • Ongoing monitoring: Reviewing effectiveness, side effects, and whether adjustments are appropriate.
  • Individualized care: Keeping your preferences and treatment goals in view.

Sometimes treatment involves starting medication. Other times, it involves adjusting an existing medication, reviewing whether it remains helpful, or discussing alternatives. The goal is not simply to prescribe more medication. It is to find an approach that is appropriate, effective, and manageable for you.

A Collaborative Relationship Built on Trust

Effective psychiatric care depends on communication and mutual respect. You should feel comfortable telling your provider when something is working, when it is not, or when you have questions about a recommendation.

I want you to have a voice in your care. Treatment should be a conversation, not a series of instructions without explanation. My goal is to create a respectful, judgment-free environment where you can speak openly and know your concerns will be taken seriously.

You do not need to have all the answers before your appointment. We can work together to understand what you are experiencing and identify appropriate next steps.

What to Expect at Your First Appointment

Your first appointment is an opportunity for us to get to know each other and develop a clearer understanding of your concerns. We will discuss current symptoms, relevant medical and psychiatric history, previous treatments, medications, and how symptoms affect your everyday life.

We will also discuss your goals. After gathering the necessary information, I will explain my clinical assessment and appropriate treatment options. If medication is recommended, I will explain the reasoning and address your questions.

My goal is for you to leave with a clearer understanding of your treatment plan and next steps.

Follow-Up Care That Goes Beyond Refills

Psychiatric medication management should not end when a prescription is written. During follow-up visits, we review progress, changes in symptoms, medication effectiveness, side effects, and any new concerns.

When relevant, we also discuss sleep, concentration, mood, work, and relationships. If adjustments are needed, we discuss the options and reasons for considering a change. Follow-up care should help us determine whether treatment is moving you toward your goals.

Concerns I Commonly Address

My practice focuses on psychiatric evaluation and medication management for concerns such as:

  • Anxiety and excessive worry
  • Depression and persistent low mood
  • Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD)
  • Mood disorders
  • Sleep-related concerns
  • Irritability and emotional regulation difficulties
  • Other psychiatric symptoms requiring evaluation and medication-management follow-up

Treatment recommendations are based on an individualized clinical assessment.

Convenient Ways to Receive Care

Work schedules, family responsibilities, transportation, and other commitments can make accessing care difficult. This website provides pathways to in-person psychiatric care through Psychiatric Solutions Clinic and telehealth appointments through participating platforms.

Appointment availability, accepted insurance plans, and scheduling arrangements depend on the clinic or platform selected. Whether we meet in person or through telehealth, my approach remains the same: attentive listening, clear communication, thoughtful medication management, and collaborative treatment planning.

Your Mental Health Journey Deserves a Partner

You do not need to explain your struggles perfectly or feel embarrassed about asking for help. What matters is taking a step toward understanding what you are experiencing and exploring what may help.

I want my patients to feel respected, informed, and involved throughout treatment. If you are looking for a psychiatric provider who values communication, takes time to understand your concerns, and works collaboratively with you on medication decisions, I welcome the opportunity to be part of your care.
